Ibero-American University (Mexico) Unibe Research Ethics Committee Celebrates Its Tenth Anniversary
The higher education institution celebrated the occasion with a discussion about the memories, challenges and achievements of the committee.
Santo Domingo Dominican Republic. November 2022. – The Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the Universidad Iberoamericana, Unibe, celebrated the tenth anniversary of its Research Ethics Committee (CEI) with the discussion “Memories, challenges and achievements of the Ethics Committee”. The activity was carried out in the Unibe Auditorium, on the morning of Thursday, November 10, 2022, with the participation of university authorities, members of its academic community and guests from allied institutions.
Dr. Aída Mencía-Ripley, Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at Unibe, gave the welcoming remarks and spoke about the history and milestones of the CEI, followed by its coordinator, Rosa Hilda Cueto, who took the opportunity to recall the achievements and the evolution of the committee.
The activity included the special participation of Dr. Pavel Rodríguez Uceta, president of the Ethics Committee of the Plaza de la Salud General Hospital, guest of honor at the celebration, who spoke about the future of ethics in the Dominican Republic.
The Unibe Research Ethics Committee is the unit in charge of managing the evaluation of research projects with human beings or whose data or biological material belongs to human beings. It ensures that they are carried out responsibly and safely, adhering to national and international ethical standards. The Committee has a digitized platform for submitting proposals and has international records. To date, the Committee has evaluated 2,986 investigations that correspond to projects of University researchers, degree works and postgraduate theses.
