Nigeria (Cross River University of Technology) Unicross vc train faculty of management sciences staff and postgraduate students on grantmanship
The Vice Chancellor of UNICROSS, Prof. Augustine Angba, has trained staff and postgraduate students of Faculty of Management Sciences on grantmanship.
The training took place on November 17th in Ogoja campus of the university where the Faculty is sited.
The training was organized as a workshop, in collaboration with Prof. Igwe Ewona, Director of the Directorate of Research and Development/ Centre for Excellence.
In his lecture at the workshop, the Vice Chancellor presented a strategic template for writing scholarly grant applications.
He narrated his personal experiences which were very captivating, inspiring and educating.
Prof. Angba urged participants to practice the knowledge acquired in the workshop for the strategic leverage of the university. He emphasized that his office and the office of the university Directorate of Research and Development/ Centre for Excellence is open to give maximum support to any member of the university community willing to pursue any local of international grant.
In addition, he urged all lecturers and postgraduate students to emulate him and other scholars of other universities in attracting developmental grant to UNICROSS that will position the university on the global educational map.
On his part, Prof. Igwe Ewona stated that the purpose of the workshop was to acquaint staff and postgraduate students of the faculty on the opportunities available in the university in the area of research both within and outside the university.
He noted that TETFUND is willing to sponsor any ground breaking research in any area in the university system. He further stressed that while there are overwhelming opportunities globally for research, what has made the huge difference between developed and under developing countries is the knowledge gap created through research.
He emphasized that the quality of researches conducted by university staff have remained the main yard stick for global ranking of institutions of higher learning.
In his vote of thanks, the Dean of faculty of management sciences Dr. Sunny Ewa, applauded the Vice Chancellor and his entire entourage for organizing the sensitization workshop.
He stated that it was timely, educating and inspiring for staff and postgraduate students of the faculty.
He assured the Vice Chancellor that as Dean of the faculty, he is willing to actively support staff and postgraduate students who are willing to pursue any grant.
The workshop was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Mrs Joy Etiowo, the Secretary to the Postgraduate School Barr. Victor Ndifon (Snr), the Sub-dean of the faculty, Dr. Adesola Adebisi, Heads of Departments of various departments of the faculty as well as several staff and postgraduate students.
The Vice Chancellor and his entourage used the opportunity offered by their presence in Ogoja campus to inspect and assess the readiness of departments facing NUC accreditation scheduled for 28th November, 2021 – 2nd December, 2021.
