Egypt (Al-Azhar University) Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Mahrasawy commends Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University Faculties
Al-Azhar University President Prof. Mohamed Al-Mahrasawy commended the level of relationship between Indonesia and both Al-Azhar Al-Sharif institution and university pointing out that he has felt the deep love and appreciation that Indonesians hold for Egypt and Al-Azhar Al-Sharif during a visit to Indonesia in which he accompanied His Eminence Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb.
Al-Azhar University President was quoted as saying this during his reception of Muhammed Aji Syria , the Indonesian Charge d’affaires in Cairo, Dr. Babinji Suriyadi , the educational and cultural chancellor to the embassy of Indonesia in Cairo, and Mr. Selhan Jilani Ahmed, director of the educational and cultural chancellor office at the Indonesian embassy in Cairo. The meeting was attended by Prof. Mohamed Ghazi Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation.
During the meeting, Al-Azhar university president welcomed the Indonesian delegation stressing the university keen interest and care for all foreign students studying at the university, with Indonesian students receiving utmost care; since their home country is keen on cooperating with Al-Azhar Al-Sharif university. The cooperation culminated in obtaining approval for teaching Indonesian language at the Faculty of languages and translation as a second language – this being a first step towards launching a department of Indonesian language after creating teaching staff to teach via cooperation between Al-Azhar university and Indonesian universities.
He pointed out that Indonesian graduates of Al-Azhar university are among the most outstanding graduates who study at the university, and who upon their graduation become best ambassadors of Al-Azhar in their home country.
On his part, the Indonesian ambassador and the accompanying delegation highlighted the deeply-rooted history Al-Azhar and their deep appreciation for Al-Azhar good reception and continual support of Indonsian students. They also thanked and expressed appreciation of both Al-Azhar Al-Sharif institution and university led by Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb and University President Prof. Mohamed Al-Mahrasawy for their continuous and genuine endeavor in serving male and female Indonesian students underscoring the fact that education in Indonesia embraces Al-Azhar Al-Sharif ‘s moderate path.
